Although information about pathologies of the foot and it’s associated structures are prevalent online, much of this information is not from the perspective of a foot specialist or even someone with a medical or health background. Furthermore, many of the authors of these articles are not practising clinicians and many have never practiced and as such may lack the insight of a clinician with real life experience.
With this in mind, newmanfeet.com was started by Rohan Newman a podiatrist trained in the UK. The main aim of the website is to first chronicle my learning (I write about what am seeing in the clinic, reading and generally what am learning) and to provide free, accurate and trustworthy educational information of the highest quality for the general public. The website focuses on foot pain pathologies that mainly affects the adult population.
Experience
Before changing to healthcare Rohan worked as a teacher of mathematics and physical education for many years in Jamaican and the UK. He also worked as a clerical officer at the Mandeville regional hospital and as head cashier at the Percey Junior hospital in Jamaica.
He also worked as a podiatrist for Berkshire NHS trust. His duties included seeing routine, diabetic and new patients which included musculoskeletal (MSK) patients.
He has also had various clinical placements at different NHS trusts including East London, Oxleas, Bromley, West Middlesex Hospital, Kings College London and Richmond and Hounslow. Clinical placements were also done at various physiotherpy practices in London and at a Rugby Club.
Rohan has also worked at various private podiatry practices in the UK. His duties cover the gamut of podiatry. However, his area of special interest is MSK pathologies (foot pain), with more than a passing interest in the diabetic foot.
Rohan was also an athlete who competed at the college level in track and field and cricket, and in athletics at the club level.
